Astrology (from Greek:
ast, ast (aster, astrós),
"star", and
(logos, logou),"word"
or "speech")
is a group of systems,
traditions, and beliefs
in which knowledge of
the relative positions
of celestial bodies
and related detailsis
held to be useful in
understanding, interpreting,
and organizing information
about personality, human
affairs,and other terrestrial
matters. A practitionerof
astrology is called
an astrologer, or, less
often, an astrologist.
Numeroustraditions and
applications employing
astrological concepts
have arisen sinceits
earliest recorded beginnings
in the 2nd millennium
BCE. It has played a
rolein the shaping of
culture, early astronomy,
andother disciplines
throughout history.
Historically,
astrology and astronomy
were often indistinguishable,
with the desire for
predictive and divinatory
knowledge one of the
primary motivating factors
for astronomical observation.
Astronomy began to diverge
from astrology after
a long period of gradual
separation in the 18th
century, and has since
distinguished itself
as the scientific study
of astronomical objects
and phenomena, placing
no significance on these
phenomena's supposed
astrological correlation.
Indian astrology also
differs considerably
from the Chinese horoscope
which is based on the
year of birth and believes
that the year of birth
indicates a certain
phase or aspect of sixty
year circle of time.
Therefore you may find
yourself born in the
year of dog, horse or
rat or even a dragon.
Hence people who are
born in a particular
animal year share certain
common traits just like
people born in common
zodiac do. Indian astrology
is highly authentic
and its predictions
are believed to be the
most accurate. Being
based on the actual
constellations of stars,
this is the most widely
used system of astrology
across the world.

Numerology is
any of many systems,
traditions or
beliefs in a mystical
or esoteric relationship
between
numbers and physical
objects or living
things. Numerology
and numerological
divination were
popular among
early mathematicians,
such as Pythagoras,
but are no longer
considered part
of mathematics
and are regarded
as pseudomathematics
by most scientists.
This is similar
to the historical
development of
astronomy out
of astrology,
and chemistry
from alchemy.
Today, numerology
is often associated
with the occult,
alongside astrology
and similar divinatory
arts. The term
can also be used
for those who,
in the view of
some observers,
place excess faith
in numerical patterns,
even if those
people don't practice
traditional numerology.
For example, Underwood
Dudley uses the
term to discuss
practitioners
of the Elliott
wave principle
of stock market
analysis.

The practice is found all over the world, with
numerous cultural variations. Those who practice
chiromancy are generally called palmists, palm
readers, hand readers, or chirologists. Palmistry
can trace its roots back to Indian (Hindu) Astrology
(known in Sanskrit as Jyotish) and Roma (gypsy)
fortune tellers. The Hindu sage Valmiki is thought
to have written a book, whose title translates
in English as "The Teachings of Valmiki
Maharshi on Male Palmistry", comprising
567 stanzas, more than 5,000 years ago. From
India, the art of palmistry spread to China,
Tibet, Egypt, Persia and to other countries
in Europe. Palmistry came to China in around
3,000 B.C. It then progressed to Greece where
Anaxagoras practised it. However, modern palmists
often combine traditional predictive techniques
with psychology, holistic healing, and alternative
methods of divination.
The practice of chiromancy is
generally regarded as a pseudoscience. It should
be noted that the information outlined below is
briefly representative of modern palmistry; there
are many ? often conflicting ? interpretations
of various lines and palmar features across various
"schools" of palmistry. |

The placement of the planets when
we were born makes up our own unique
personalities and characteristics.
Each planet has an influence over
us and effects the way we think,
respond, react and behave. Not only
does each planet play a role in
our personality but as they continue
to go through changes, we continue
to go through our lives feeling
their effects. The effects make
up our daily, weekly, monthly and
yearly horoscopes, while their placement
at birth, determines our identities.
The positions they were in during
birth and the current positions
combined, helps us understand certain
feelings and reactions they would
have on us. Since each planets position
can have positive or negative influences
over us, we hopefully have the control
to utilize the positive effects
and not the negative ones. Just
how much of an effect each of these
planets has over us on a day to
day basis depends on our Natal Chart
and our convictions.
Well, some of us fail to see any
analogy there! Perhaps at this point
we should try to analyze the contributing
factors in the widespread following
astrology has today. It is estimated
that 1200 out of the 1750 daily
newspapers carry an astrological
column (1975 statistics). We may
safely assume that the percentage
is higher today, for astrology is
a multi-million dollar industry.
Hundreds of bookstores specialize
in astrological and cultist reading
material. Thousands upon thousands
of college and university students
seek astrological guidance in matters
of career, marriage, and politics.
Many parents plan the birth of their
children so they will be born under
a "favorable" astrological
sign, despite the fact that the
respected journal "Psychology
Today" noted not long ago that
"It is simply a mistake to
imagine that the forces exerted
by stars and planets at the moment
of birth can in any way shape our
futures." St. Augustine, who
lived 1,600 years ago, gave up astrology
when he learned that a wealthy landowner
and a slave on his estate had been
born exactly at the same time!
